In April 2013, the Greek, independent, political magazine Hot Doc published a special issue that contained revelations on how agents of the Greek National Intelligent Service, along with prominent bankers, journalists and members of the political world, tried to exterminate the investigative journalist Kostas Vaxevanis:
“I wish this story never got written. It would mean that the laws are upheld, journalism does its work and the deep-state is an encyclopedic remnant from the 60’s. But unfortunately, in the year 2012, we are under surveillance, the masterminds of which are carriers of political and economical power”. These lines were written in June 2012, at issue no. 6 of Hot Doc. Barely three months after the magazine’s publication, a series of clues and tips led us to the conclusion that we were under surveillance. We were always under the impression that it was something very serious, but it is now we understand how ignorant we were of the danger, as well as of the enemies we created in just a few days of circulation.
